Now the 26th Centennial World Olympic Games are in full swing in Altanda. The Olympic flame is burning red and bright in the torch at the center of the Olympic square. Earlier before the official opening of the games it had been relayed one by one through the hands of runners, among them, students supported by the Chinese hope project. Thousands of people lined the struts to watch the relay.
The relay of the Olympic Flame is the symbol of the continuity between the ancient and modern Games. During the ancient Olympics a sacred flame burned at the altar of Zeus. A modern version of the flame was adopted for the Berlin Games in 1936, and the tradition has been observed ever since. The torch used to kindle the flame is first lit by the sun's rays at Olympia in Greece, and then carried to the site of the Games by relays of runners.Ships and planes are used when necessary.
The runners are specially chosen, All of them are hard working and as a result become overacbievers. The flame kindles the fire in everyone's heart to encourage people to go on and on and bring the Olympic spirit into full play.

不要盲目地提前開始開設英語課程
在許多人看來,英語學習似乎越早越好,他們的理論依據就是所謂的“語言學習的關鍵期”假說。
1967年,Lenneberg通過對兒童語言障礙的研究提出在語言學習的過程當中存在著一段時間(大約10歲前),在該段時間內,語言的習得最為容易,而超
過這段時間,語言的習得能力就會受到限制。在此之后幾十年的時間里,人們針對這一假說進行了大量的研究,支持者與反對者都不乏其人,時至今日也尚無定論。因此,“語言學習的關鍵期”理論仍然還是一個未經驗證的假設,而且,這一關鍵期主要是指母語的習得而言,用在外語學習上未必合適。
許多人認為兒童要比青少年或成年人具有更多的學習外語的優勢。早在10年前,我國著名的英語教育專家桂詩春教授就明確指出這種看法是不能成立的。兒童具有模仿力強、聽覺敏銳、心理障礙較少的特點,這是青少年和成人所不能比的,但是不能因此而過分地夸大兒童在外語學習方面的優勢。與兒童相比,青少年的智力較發達、記憶力較強,而成年人具有較強的學習動機和學習持久性、較高的語言規則歸納能力,這都是外語學習所必需,也是兒童所不及的。大量的研究表明,除了語音之外,兒童在外語學習方面與青少年和成人相比,并無任何優勢可言。
有的學校提前開設英語是因為不得已而為之。原因在于許多家長給孩子選擇學校的條件之一就是看這所學校是否從一年級就開設英語。這與媒體上面一些不適當的宣傳有很大的關系。對于望子成龍的家長來說這是可以理解的,但是作為一名教育工作者,我們應該從兒童的長遠發展考慮,要遵循教育規律,應保持清醒的頭腦,不能人云亦云,陷入盲目性。《英語課程標準(實驗稿)》在對國內外外語教學現狀的充分考察、對少年兒童心理特點和外語學習規律認真研究的基礎上確定從三年級開始設英語課,不是隨便規定的。我們可以在很小的范圍內進行一些提前開設英語課的實驗,但是絕不能不顧外語教學的規律,盲目地一哄而上。
不能降低小學英語師資的標準
小學英語處在英語學習的初級階段,一旦學生學習失敗,將會影響到學生今后一生的英語學習。因此,合格的師資對于小學英語教學尤為重要。從目前的實際情況來看,我國小學英語師資還存在很大的缺口。
令人擔心的是,為了彌補小學英語師資的不足,某些地方的教育主管部門會從目前正在從事其他課程教學的教師中抽出一部分教師來改行教英語。這些教師的絕大多數都不具備小學英語師資的基本條件,如果不經過必要的培訓就匆忙上陣,教學效果令人擔憂。因此,我們主張在小學英語師資的配備上應該遵循寧缺勿濫的原則,在師資培訓方面多下功夫,切實保證小學英語師資的質量,從而從根本上保證小學英語教學的質量。
重視英語教學,但不要忽視漢語和中國文化教育
中國人從來沒有像今天這樣重視英語的學習,這無疑是一件好事情,但是這樣的環境很容易給人,尤其是小學生(包括許多家長在內),造成一種錯覺,認為英語比漢語還重要,從而忽視漢語的學習。小學生的漢語水平也處在一個發展的過程之中,如何處理好英語與漢語之間的關系是小學英語教學需要認真考慮的問題。
在學生學習英語的過程當中勢必要接觸英語國家的文化。但是,我們在重視外國文化的同時,卻很容易忽視中國文化。在我國目前廣泛使用的各種英語教材中,與中國文化相關的課文內容微乎其微。由此而產生的后果是顯而易見的,對于中國的英語學習者來說,英語學習的重要目的之一是使用英語傳播中華民族的優秀文化,而許多的英語學習者在通過了四級、六級考試甚至英語專業畢業之后,都不知道“孔子”在英語中應該怎么說,《紅樓夢》、《水滸傳》、《三國演義》、《聊齋志異》等中國古典文學名著在英語中該怎樣翻譯。小學生的價值觀與道德觀都處在形成的過程之中,他們思想活躍,易于接受新鮮事物,但是又缺乏一定的鑒別能力,在學習異國文化的過程當中,如果不善加引導,他們很容易盲目地接受西方文化中的價值觀、道德觀和行為規范,很容易忘記甚至疏遠自己民族的文化傳統。
已故著名英語教育家許國璋教授曾指出“小學生專注外語,通盤的文化基礎自然削弱。”在目前的情況下,這一擔心仍然值得我們關注。我國許多老一輩的專家學者的成功除了得益于較高的外語水平之外,更主要的是在于他們對于中國文化的深刻把握與理解,像錢鐘書、季羨林、許國璋等等,莫不如此。
不要過分強調跳跳唱唱的作用
小學英語教學要充分考慮兒童的心理特點,培養學生學習英語的.興趣,使學生能夠在輕松活潑的氣氛中學到英語。因此,小學英語教師創造了豐富多彩、形式多樣的教學活動,例如唱英語歌曲、學英語兒歌、跳舞等,這些都起到了很好的教學效果。
但是,英語教學的目的在于提高學生綜合運用英語的能力,跳跳唱唱只是手段,而不是目的。不能在英語教學中為了唱歌而學唱歌,為了表演而學表演。我們已經注意到,在一些小學英語教學中,一些教師過分的強調了跳跳唱唱的作用,把唱歌跳舞當成了主要的英語教學活動,學生在課堂上學的是英語歌曲,課后的作業也是歌曲。這樣不符合兒童的心理特點,也不符合英語學習的規律。因此,一名好的英語教師應該從學生的實際情況和提高學生綜合運用英語能力的目標出發,而不是千篇一律地照搬照抄。英語教學應該注意實效,不要過多地搞一些形式化的東西。
英語學習是一個漫長的過程,其中需要學習者付出艱辛的努力。在小學英語教學中,在確保教學生動有趣的同時,還應注意對學生正確的學習態度以及學習毅力的培養,要把生動有趣的教學活動與一些機械的記憶以及聽、說、讀、寫訓練有機地結合起來。我們既要防止不顧兒童的心理特點,機械地套用成人的英語教學方法,只注重教師的講解,而不注意學生的積極參與,使學生失去學習英語的興趣;又要防止過分強調學生興趣的培養,不注意對學生進行學習意志與毅力的鍛煉與培養,使英語教學流于形式,從而導致“英語課堂熱熱鬧鬧,學生英語水平提高了了”的狀況。
