1,A good many animals sleep under the snow.

 a good many 意為"很多",后接復數可數名詞。

We've lived here a good many years.

a great many 和a good many 在意義和用法上基本相同,但前者的語氣較重。

I have a great many things to do today.

2,There is a lot of air in loose snow, and this helps to keep the cold out.

 keep sb. /sth. out (of…)

Warm clothes will keep the cold out.

Keep that cat out of our study.

 Danger! Keep out!

3,Some warm blooded animals, like the cat, the dog or the wolf, do not need to hibernate; they lead an active life which keeps up their normal body temperature even in very cold winter weather.

The tiger and the lion belong to the cat family.

The horse is a useful animal.

 A horse is a useful animal.

They promised each other that they would keep up their friendship forever.

4,Then it has no choice but to lie down and sleep.

have no choice but to ……

He had no choice but to leave.

I don't have any choice but to do as you tell me.

weather意為"天氣",為不可數名詞,不能在前面加不定冠詞,如我們只能說in such fine weather, 而不能說in such a fine weather. 如:

Keep the windows open in fine weather.

He stays indoors watching TV in wet weather.

 The weather has changed.

Many crops depend on the weather.

She goes out in all weathers.

In most weathers, they work outdoors.

A drier climate would be good for her health.

The climate of Kunming is enjoyable all year round.

如:a foolish act。

He was foolish enough to believe her.

I thought you had more sense than to do such a foolish thing.

He was so stupid as to forget his own name.

 That's a stupid idea.

常用于a silly boy, a silly story, a silly question/mistake中。

I am not so silly as you think.

Ah, I have done a silly thing.

 3,such as與such…as…

Some of the rubbish such as food, paper and iron, rots away over a long period of time.

A man such as he will surely succeed.

Have you seen some fierce animals such as lion, tiger, wolf and so on?

You can borrow books of reference, such as dictionaries and handbooks.

 2)such…as…

Such girls as he knew were teachers.

Such bikes as you have are sold out.

 Take such as you need.

I will send you such as I have.

His words are such as to make his friends angry.

His illness was such as to cause anxiety.

 4)such as也可后接that引起的從句。

                          D

Treasure hunts (尋寶) have excited people's imagination for hundreds of years both in real life and in books such as Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. Kit Williams, a modern writer, had the idea of combining the real excitement of a treasure hunt with clues (線索) found in a book when he wrote a children's story, Masquerade, in 1979. The book was about a hare, and a month before it came out Williams buried a gold hare in a park in Bedfordshire. The book contained a large number of clues to help readers find the hare, but Williams put in a lot of "red herrings", or false clues, to mislead them.

Ken Roberts, the man who found the hare, had been looking for it for nearly two years. Although he had been searching in the wrong area most of the time, he found it by logic (邏輯), not by luck. His success came from the fact that he had gained an important clue at the start. He had realized that the words: "One of Six to Eight" under the first picture in the book connected the hare in some way to Katherine of Aragon, the first of Henry Ⅷ's six wives. Even here, however, Williams had succeeded in misleading him. Ken knew that Katherine of Aragon had died at Kimbolton in Cambridgeshire in 1536 and thought that Williams had buried the hare there. He had been digging there for over a year before a new idea occurred to him. He found out that Kit Williams had spent his childhood near Ampthill, in Bedfordshire, and thought that he must have buried the hare in a place he knew well, but he still could not see the connection with Katherine of Aragon, until one day he came across two stone crosses in Ampthill Park and learnt that they had been built in her honor in 1773.

Even then his search had not come to an end. It was only after he had spent several nights digging around the cross that he decided to write to Kit Williams to find out if he was wasting his time there. Williams encouraged him to continue, and on February 24th. 1982, he found the treasure. It was worth £3000 in the beginning, but the excitement it had caused since its burial made it much more valuable.

我們把該段中he wrote a children's story, Masquerade和The book contained a large number of clues to help readers find the hare及Williams put in a lot of "red herrings", or false clues, to mislead them這三處信息綜合考慮,就不難判斷出them在這里指Masquerade一書的讀者,故答案為D。

68.C。 His success came from the fact that he had gained an important clue at the start. He had realized that the words: "One of Six to Eight" under the first picture in the book connected the hare in some way to Katherine of Aragon可以判斷出,能夠幫助Ken Roberts找到金兔的最重要的線索是Katherine of Aragon,故答案是C。

69.B。 One of Six to Eight"under the first picture in the book connected the hare in some way to Katherine of Aragon, the first of Henry Ⅷ's six wives和but he still could not see the connection with Katherine of Aragon, until one day he came across two stone crosses in Ampthill Park and learnt that they had been built in her honor in 1773. 如果理解了in sb's honor和to show respect or thanks for sb.

He had realized that the words: "One of Six to Eight" under the first picture in the book connected the hare in some way to Katherine of Aragon, the first of Henry Ⅷ's six wives. 應是a開頭,有A、C供選擇。該段中he still could not see the connection with Katherine of Aragon, until one day he came across two stone crosses in Ampthill Park and learnt that they had been built in her honor in 1773. 一句中的two stone crosses in Ampthill.

Williams encouraged him to continue, and on February 24th 1982, he found the treasure可以判斷出B為最佳選項。
